Hawaii Or Bust!

So we are clearing more and more road blocks on the way to Hawai`i. As of now we are down to a LapTop, some living supplies, and airfare.

Any of these would be welcomed were they to fall out of the sky, (bad pun there, airfare - fall out of sky). Of course we understand that what comes down must also go back up (ha ha), so we are willing to swap a VAIO DeskTop for a decent LapTop. A Mac LapTop is of no use to us as we are already a completely windows environment. Further efforts can be rewarded with a printer, various electronics, TONS of paperback and hardback Sci-Fi, gratitude, internet hosting, what have you.

Do we really expect to get any of this?
No.

Do we really deserve to get any of this?
Well, that depends on who you talk to.

What do you get out of giving us any of this?
Well, we are skilled computer nerds that will continue to maintain our online presence, and can offer free internet hosting for your personal or business website. Once in Hawai`i we can offer our skills in computer repair and upgrading as we can build computers from components as well as installing fresh operating systems. We are also experienced VJ Hosts, having honed our skills providing video and audio support to help run parties at private residences. And if you are not in Hawai`i it sure would be nice to know some computer nerds there who owe you a big favor for when you are vacationing there and really need some work done on your LapTop.

My daughter sleeps on a queen fouton. It takes up over half of her little girl room. I really want a single bed for her. But it is not in my budget. Would anyone like to trade? I live in NE Portland. The fouton matress has some old stains, but no holes. It is a great matress actually, and the frame is good too. It does not fold up. It is a bed, not a couch.

I just wanted to let you all know that I have started working at a Wellness Center in Oakland called Body180. It's a beautiful space on Grand Ave near the Grand Lake Theater that also offers yoga and will be offering nutrition, personal training and injury treatment in the near future.

While the business is officially open now, they're having Grand Opening events on April 1st and 2nd to celebrate and introduce themselves to the community. During these two days you'll be able to take Hatha Yoga classes, there will be a Nutrition workshop, a Meditation workshop, a kids yoga class, and lots of massage. If you've seen one of my postings, you know I'm a Canadian traveller who's checking out California. Generally I spend time between SF and LA, and I'm just about to transition back to LA again. I'm an astrologist that specializes in relationship guidance, insight into human sexuality through astrology, including likely turnons and fetishes of each sign and who they work well with, etc and spiritual advice. I read the Goddess Guidance Cards as well, an exceptionally powerful and uplifting deck of tarot cards that have helped alter the course of many people's lives since they first came into my hands. I offer my services by donation and take trades, talk to me about what it is you have to offer and we'll see if we can work out a deal. I'm also fundraising for Dream CO(llective) dreamcollective.tribe.net which is a travelling higher conscious road show with performance art, music and art that's hitting the road in June. A huge need right now is fabrics and materials for decorations.

I've been studying human sexuality and giving relationship counselling for about 5 years now...since I became nomadic and started wandering the world. I started studying astrology after it was proven to me to have validity because it helps me give people deeper guidance, psychological analysis and triggers my intuitive senses when I apply them to a personal problem for someone. I'm completely non-judgemental and open-minded, you can talk to me about almost anything and I'll listen and give you the best insight I can. I'm deeply committed to being a healer in this regard, even if you don't have money I'll sit and do a reading, just make me dinner, buy me food or offer me a couch to stay. Or simply tell me you need help, I'm not one to say no to that.

So, many of you may be familiar with me from parties, fire performances, various sexual astrology posts, or pleas for rides between LA and San Francisco. It's possible that I've talked to (or at!) you about Dream Co(llective) and how I want to establish a travelling higher conscious show with organic food, conscious music, psychedelic art, clothing and cool shit made from recycled materials, along with information on alternative ways to live outside the box, eat healthy, heal yourself naturally, etc. All broadcast by pirate radio/internet radio of course, and transported by bio-diesel buses.

I'm aware that this is a long shot, but I want all those little places that have no clue what Burning Man is all about to have their eyes opened, too. We coastal communities are lucky because we have information sources to enlighten us and open our eyes. I'd like the rest of North America to get that same chance.

I'm completely, absolutely, 100% not in the typical Tribester area. I live in Massachusetts, about an hour SW of Boston, just a short drive from Woonsocket RI.

Any other Tribe members, more specifically members of THIS tribe, in that area? I'd be interested in setting up a barter, paartly just for the sake of barter. I'm a big fan of being an atypical consumer.

So, what do I have to offer in the way or skills?
-I can teach you how to save BIG on your groceries, I'm a coupon diva
-I make an absolutely fantastic meatloaf, by all accounts
-if you're new to Boston, I'll happily show you around my favourite spots in the city
-I have a weird talent for organising kitchens.. I'm crap for organising much else, but kitchens just work for me
-I can babysit - have experience doing so, though not recently. I have a good knowledge of first aid, including CPR (I used to be certified, but I need a refresher course technically)
-also have experience petsitting and housesitting if you're ever out of town

There are several services that I am in need of. I would like to offer my Thai massage services (a full-body 1.5-2 hour massage) in trade of:

1. Life coach- I am currently lacking direction. No, I have a lot of direction but feel in pulled in many directions at the same time, and as a result, feel frustrated that I am not progressing. I have an extremely hard time focusing, and completing even the most basic tasks. I need a coach/ mentor to help sort out my priorities and keep me on track. I am looking for someone with considerable experience doing this.
2. Holistic nutritionalist- I have been coping with pretty severe food issues for many years. I recently completed the master cleanse with very little problems, but then resumed my old habits. I was very disappointed with myself. I could use coaching in this area. I am especially interested in someone who comes from a “raw foodist” orientation as I would like to learn raw food techniques.
3. Hair stylist – I have long shoulder length blonde hair, it would be great to have a cut and possibly even color.
4. Bike Mechanic – I recently pulled my bike out of the basement after not riding it for some time. It really needs a tune-up. It is squeaking and having trouble with a couple of gears.

About me:
I trained in Thai Yoga Massage in Thailand last year with the well-respected Sunshine Network. Thai Yoga Massage is a very intense type of full-body energy work that has been compared to assisted yoga. The benefits are amazing it tones, relaxes and energizes.

I really believe that for true community to prosper we should choose to voluntarily share our energy and time with each other (at least occasionally). I am offering one of my greatest skills for one yours.

Book Exchange Party in NYC!

We're all readers. We all have sagging shelves and bursting boxes full of them, books we've loved but will never open again. There's no more room, but there's always more books. And we're all covetous sluts eagerly eyeing the dust jackets at our friends' apartments. More books are both the solution and the problem.

Fortunately, there's help.

On Sunday, June 6, from 2 to 6 pm there will be a book exchange on the roof of my building at 529 w 42nd Street. I'll have a grill going up there and a cooler full of ice. Bring your own grillables and some beer, browse the books and take what you want. If you have some books you want to pass on, bring them. If you have no books to share, come anyway. There's more than enough to go around. Oh, and if you want to bring some food for the crowd, that's always appreciated too.

From my shelves, I have pulled three boxes of books. There's a lot of great fiction from Rushdie, Twain, Roald Dahl, Shakespeare, Rushkoff, Homer, Dostoevsky, Joyce and more. There's reference books, new fiction, classics, travel, philosophy, art, sci fi, law, sociology and computer books in there. It's all good stuff, stuff that survived my culling the collection many times over the last few years. I guarantee that you will find something you want to read. And my books are just the start.

Any books left over from this event will be donated to various libraries, communities and schools.

I am working on a project that would blend Art/PoliSci/Community/Business and anything else that we can dream up. Read the details below I hope that you stop by. We've got some great ideas and people floating around the farm and can always use more. Here's the spiel. Peace.

Why do it?

If bush wins again (don't stop reading yet this ain't just about politics) and the republicans keep the congress then we are going to really need to be as united as possible to make sure that by midterm elections in 3 years we are ready. Not to mention that we will have to do alot of work ourselves to make up for the social, environmental, and educational programs that he will do away with. But we can do it. I have started a project to compile a list of open minded (mostly left leaning) organizations, media outlets, and businesses so that we can set up a web site that will help us connect as never before. (yes there are some out there but nothing as comprehensive as we need) Why do we need it? Read the second paragraph again. And OH YEAH. At least 2 SC Justices may step down within the next 4 year presidency.

But then what?

Once we get connected then there will be additional ways to organize to make us more effective. But i'm not even going to start in on that yet. For now we just need a list. Just imagine what could be done if we could get two million, intelligent, imaginative, somewhat insane people working together.(not to mention that it would make a barter system much easier to use) All of the educational, political and business projects that we put in place could be done so in a way that has yet to be seen.(how big is your imagination??) It could be art. Street theater in ways that it has not been used before to teach the public. Music, painting, sculpture, dance.(I told ya it was more than politics. It's a big ass art/polisci project and it could be a lot of fun) Mentoring programs that will actually get more than just the already motivated kids on the move. (There's alot of potential out there that is being wasted because it hasn't been motivated correctly)

As a complete bibliophile, I have a lot of books in my house. Some I've listed on half.com, some I haven't. Of course, if someone wanted something I had there, I'd be willing to take it off the listing. I also have nearly the complete run of Dragonlance books, most of the Piers Anthony Xanth books, and some comic books I'd be willing to part with.

I'd accept fiction by Charles de Lint, anything of the same genre as Lovecraft (Weird Tales type stories), or something of a similar nature in sci-fi, fantasy, or horror. (Just about the only thing I don't care for are Westerns and Romances.) I collect Marvel, JTHM, SQUEE, and Lenore comics. In non-fiction, I prefer books on mythology, folklore, paranormal/occult subjects, ancient history, crafts, and Pagan religions.

I suggest a trade of 1 hardcover book for 2 paperback and 1 paperback/graphic novel for 3 comics. Just for the sake of equality of Shipping and handling of course.

Of course, if you have something non-book related you want to trade, let me know and I'll consider it. I like alternative, old rock, and chamber music, plants (indoor and outdoor), raven figurines/dolls, etc. Or if you don't have any of these things, let me know what you'd like to offer instead.

Starting over, I am now the proud owner of an 1981 Buick that needs some TLC work and a tune-up. I'm looking for a good mechanic in the area that might be interested in trading for:

1] Web design or graphic design work. A personal website? A business website? I have experience designing both.
2] PR work. I have experience building press kits and writing press releases that get results. [Great for home businesses or people in bands who are mechanically inclined]
3] Desktop publishing. Term papers, resumes, newsletters. I can type up just about anything and format it to look good for you.
4] Fan of classic jazz? I have an excellent collection of cd's [Byrd, Parker, etc] to trade for your work.
5] Want a crash course in budget shopping? I regularly save 30% or more when grocery shopping and I can teach you to do it too.

I know...odd skills and I probably have other skills to trade. If there's something you're looking for to trade for your mechanic skills, ask and I'll let you know if I can do it.
